Drabs, Duds, Sparks & Characters

The mundane everyday folks of The City live their lives blissfully unaware of the world around them. The Shroud keeps them from seeing the truth. It blinds them to the possibilities that there is something more fantastical to life. Thus these mundanes are known as Drabs, because of their bleak outlook on the world.

There are those Drabs who, for some strange reason find themselves with the curtains lifted. The Shroud does not affect them. These people are known as Duds, because they exist with one foot in the Spark world, yet don't have a spark of their own.

Sparks are those who have awakened a power inside them, a creative Spark that allows them to produce the truly fantastical. There are those who create gadgets and contraptions to achieve their goals, and there are others who imbue art and ink, words and symbols with their power. Spark creations tend to happen when they first awaken. In terms of augmentations, these are done under the knife in specialist Spark establishments that do it for a price. Currency is not the only thing of value, and there is a market for a new Sparks creation. Even a tattoo can be traded if it attached to the limb being replaced.

Jessical Lang - The Black Widow. A slender half asian stage singer with a seriously deadly past time. She has a a calling for the finer things in life, and she is living a lifestyle way above what a lounge singer would make. Her dressing room is her office, and she has a unique skillset for hire. Assassination with no risk of being discovered. Those who hire her thinks she uses deadly black widow spiders to kill her victims. But in reality she uses her ability as a Spark to get the job done. She has a large spider tattoo on her back, and a cobweb tattoo on her shoulder with a trail of small spiders down her thigh. Each tattoo can be activated, bringing to life the tattoo under her control.

Frank Nolan - The Hound. A private detective with a reputation of getting the job done. You want anyone found, he finds them. His methods are somewhat sloppy, but he always gets results. Frank has an augmented eye, and right arm. He has a bunch of devices he uses to scan scenes for signs of DNA, gets the match and then tracks the trail. When a trail runs cold, he uses persuasion, and his fist. Punching through a wall is usually enough to make any Drab squeal.

Jack Draper - The Delver. A tech with a DelvingDeck, a self made device capable of plugging to a target's mind. His unique trade allows him to extract corporate information, search and even manipulate memories. Hired for insider info, influencing peoples decisions, or even manipulating what a witness saw. Those hiring don't know how he achieves his goals, they just care about the results.

Mary Blythe - The Influencer. A librarian who discovered her special skillset while writing a rumour in her hand bound journal. Turns out, if she writes down a rumour, it tends to come true. But as she learned the hard way, for a rumour to happen there are many factors, and the bigger the rumour, the greater the ripple effect to getting it to happen. The first rumour ended up taking the life of her best friend's husband. She offers her services to make things happen, but at a huge price, and every rumour is worded carefully and designed to avoid certain outcomes.
